Yellow snowman visit.

Team colour day was an eventful, fun and messy affair.
The yellow team were joined by a new team member but he soon disappeared in our warm classrooms.
A black hat and carrot are currently awaiting collection in the lost property bin.
Merry Christmas!

Goodbye Sophie

Last day of term proved eventful with a filmed performance of Street Child for parents and an emotional cheerio from and for Sophie who is leaving us for the land of the big moose and the red maple leaf (Answer = Canada!).

Not far then?

Liam was nominated by the pupils to present Sophie with a memento book with photos and messages.

Cheerio and Good Luck.

Feed the world

The children enjoyed Christmas dinner served up by the staff.

DJ May was in control of the CD player so we had a variety of classic Christmas tunes including "Feed the world" by Band Aid .

Once again Mrs Henchy and her team served up a turkey treat and the children (and Mrs de Sausmarez) wore their Christmas fancy hats and sang along.

Winter Is Celebrated In Style With 'The Snow Queen'

ALL of Newport's children have proudly presented an amazing performance of the 'Snow Queen'
The Snow Queen is a tale about an evil witch who kidnaps Kay and hides him away in her ice palace, guarded by her sprites. Gerda, his faithful foster sister, sets off on a quest to rescue him. With the power of her magic rose and the help of the crows and other characters on her journey, she finally releases Kay from the icy grips of the Snow Queen.

'The performances were amazing, all the children were incredible. I'd like to thank all the staff in all the support they have given' Mrs. Ewing.

Here are some highlights of the production. All photos are part of the CD that can be purchased for £3 from the school office.

The comedy value of the crows.

The Snow Queen hypnotises Kay into her way of life.

Gerda picks up the magical rose. She then sets about trying to rescue Kay from the evil grip of the Snow Queen.

The whole school join together to sing the finale . The children then went on to perform this play to over 400 adults in 2 evening performances. Well Done to everyone involved: pupils, parents and staff!

Play time this Christmas

Yes its panto season and our whole school has been busy practising their lines and singing in preparation for this week's play "The Snow Queen".

Today there were two "sell out"performances and there will be another final performance on Wednesday evening.

However there was no version of "Ice ice baby" which would have been apt under the circumstances.
Here are a sample of photos of year 5 pupils who have practised and performed so enthusiastically.

The major speaking roles were awarded to Alex and Shannon as the Prince and Princess whilst Liam was the principal footman.
As usual Mrs Ewing and Mrs Lock have directed Snow Queen with great success supported by a team of costume designers and prop makers led by Mrs Wiseman.

Cheerio Chloe Jo

It snowed on "Chloe's" two final days in Newport.

All the pupils had prepared a top secret card which we hope she will receive in her new home in Germany.

All the pupils want to say "Good Luck" and we will miss you.

Belle Vue and Newport Schools Closed Today

Friday 3rd December 2010

Unfortunately, due to continuing adverse weather, both Belle Vue School and Newport School will be closed today.

A new date for the Newport Christmas Fayre will be posted here soon as will any further updates.

Well done to the following children who have already submitted excellent poems through wizkid: Kyle, Kaitlyn, Shannon. Aimee, Arran, Christian, Ellie and Rhiann. Log on to wizkid to read them and to post your own!

Children can log onto their wizkid account to find lots of fun 'Snow Day' activities to do.

If your children cannot log onto wizkid, then here are some ideas for what they can do:

1.) Have a go at writing your own snow poem. You could describe how the snow looks, feels, tastes, smells and sounds. Can you illustrate your poem and bring it in for display?

2.) Can you create a poster to advertise the forthcoming Christmas Plays? The best posters will be used in school!

3.) Fruit and vegetable pictogram/graphs!
Have a look in your kitchen and count how many different types of fruit or vegetables you have. How many of each type do you have? Create a graph or pictogram showing us. We will create a display back in school.

Finally...be safe and wrap up warm!
